Ruddy and Franks, managers of three banks at Los Angeles, were arrested at Los Angeles following upon an investigation by detectives of cheque manipulations on a large scale, causing losiseis totalling £IOO,OOO. John Pronkr who was alleged to be the master mind of the conspiracy, fled to Mexico with more than £40.000 of the loot. Landon was his chief assistant, reporting to other institutions that Plonks cheques were good. Pronlc kept two bank accounts. There were titty employees in Ills office dealing in automobiles. often handling hundreds at a time with drafts upon cities in the Eastern States.—Sydney Sun.
