A BRUTAL MURDER. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Jan. 2, 1.30 p.m.) HOBART, Jan. 2. Patrick King, aged 58, Avas found lying in a street near the Avaterfront. He died later in the hospital. He Avas evidently the victim of a brutal assault, and his pockets had been rifled. The police think he Avas attacked by tAA’o persons, felled Avith bottles, and his skull fractured. The police characterise it as one of the most brutal murders known in Hobart.
MURDER AND SUICIDE. PERTH, Jim. 2., Aquilino Navarra, a Spaniard, fatally shot Mrs Cruthers at Eremantle. He waded waist deep into the ocean, and then shot himself in the temple. YACHTING ACCIDENT. PERTH, Jan. 2. After clinging to an overturned yacht for nearly nine hours, the crew of the Radiant were washed ashore. One man who became exhausted was tied hv his mates to the boat.
