VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM.
NEW YEAR EXPERIENCE AT HASTINGS. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HASTINGS, Jan. 2. A violent, dazzling, brilliant e J ec “ trieal disturbance visited Hastings just after midnight on New Year’s Hay. Coming from the south, in blinding flashes and with deafening thunder, it seemed to spend its fury on the t-own, culminating in hurtling a large g' ot) ® of fire across the sky, which changed night to noon and burst with a terrific report, causing much alarm and extinguishing the town’s electric lights. Soon after the storm sped out to sea. No serious damage is reported.
