A field of 15 went out to contest the last race of the meeting, Athenry, Ivi. wini, and Nastori being the only , withdrawals. The grey gelding Eh Timi, which won the seventh race on the first day in a manner which considerably impressed the public, was the first fancy, with Green Bonnet, on which about £'3oo was invested, being the next choice. About £l3O less than the sum on Green Bonnet was speculated on Argue’s chances, which in turn were preferred before 'Duetto’s, the fourth choice, to the value of about 200 tickets. Santa Fe. partnered by Monaghan, was the first to get away, but Eh Timi, Duetto, Green Bonnet, and Argue, racing in close formation, led over the first furlong. Eli Timi then went decisively to the front from Green Bonnet, with Arguo following. Going well within himself, Eh Timi led into the straight from Duetto, and, finishing well, won easily by a length and a half from Duetto, which beat Green Bonnet by a neck, with Santa Fe two lengths, back in fourth place. ‘ Whilst the field for the Ware a Hack Stakes was being marshalled at the starting post, Eh Timi created a. diversion by suddenly ridding himself of his rider and indulging in a. lone canter for about 24 furlongs. The incident suddenly presented a somewhat serious aspect when a spectator, in endeavouring to stop the powerful animal, was knocked down, but it was afterwards ascertained that lie had not suffered serious injury. The truant was taken hack bv the clerk of the course to the waiting field, none tlie worse for the excursion, as was evident from his showing when finally the tapes went up.
