ST. PAUL’S DOME SAFE.

NO SIGN OF PIERS SINKING. LONDON, Nov. 1. The dome of St. Paul's, which at one time was thought to be in danger of crashing to the ground, is not sinking. This reassuring news was given to the committee which met at the Mansion House yesterday to hear the report of the experts responsible for the preservation work now going on. Measurements and observations, it is stated, reveal no sign of disruptive movement 'n the dome area. The removal of the organ and choir stalls from the two piers in the choir has been almost completed, and arrangements have been made to re-erect a portion of the organ in the north aisle of the nave. All the monuments have been removed from the bases of the piers into which cement is being injected, with the exception of those of Nelson and Cornwallis, which have been enclosed in wooden casings to protect them from possible damage. A special non-corrosive steel is being used for reinforcement with some of the piles.
