Arthur Lester Morgan was charged at the Magistrates’ Court with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car, and that he drove the car recklessly. The information of drunkenness was dismissed, and the accused was fined £lO for reckless driving. His driver’s license was endorsed, and Morgan was prohibited from driving for three months. TIMBER INDUSTRY SLACK. TAIHAPE, Dec. 17. A large and representative meeting of*North Island sawmillers was held here yesterday to discuss conditions relating to the* industry. It was stated after the meeting hv a prominent sawmiller that, owing to the general slackness of the timber, trade, the mills would he closed down on December. 19, probably for a month, and if conditions did not improve in the meantime the question of working short time in the new vear would have to be considered.
