FENNELL SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. RESULT OF LAST CONCERT. The second annual meeting of subscribers and workers interested in the Walter Fennell' Scholarship Fund was held at the Winter Show office last night. There -were present: Mr B. C. Bennett (chairman), Miss Dolan, Miss Reilly, Mrs M. J. Goodson, Mrs Bennett, Mr Page, and Mrs Aston (actingsecretary). The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and also the statement of accounts in connection with- the last concert and mannequin parade. This showed a credit balance of £63 8s 6d. It was noted that the expenses of the function were all met by donations, MeGruer„ Bone and Co. Ltd. paying the cost of the Opera House, and Mrs Bennett giving the balance, so that the proceeds from sales of tickets were all clear profit.

The election of th e committee resulted as follows: Mrs Bennett, Mrs W. G. Simpson,, Mrs M. J. Goodson, Mrs Barley, Mrs Little, Mrs Ferguson, Miss Reilly, Misses Dolan (2), Messrs Bennett, Liddington, Page, Bone,, Dixon, Corrigan, 11. G. Dickie, M.P., J. Renwiek and W. S. Gibson; lion secretary, Mr L. O. Hooker; lion, auditor, Mr C. S. Suisted.

Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs McGruer, Bone and Co.; Ltd., D.. Strachan, A. H. Arthur, W. J. Woollefts, H. C. A. Fox, Mrs Bennett, L. Linton and others (doorkeepers), Mrs Cook, McCormick and Co., R. S. Sage and the Hawera 'Star for generous donations and help given at the entertainment. , It was decided to send to London hv cable message this week the sum of £SO, and to write to Mr Fennell advising him. of the special effort and enclosing a copy. of the statement of accounts. Suggestions were made as to- rurtner effort's! but it was resolved to leave these until' after the New Year Another meeting would be lieid then to consider the means to he adopted to raise further funds. It was noted with satisfaction that during the two years, by special effort and by annual subscriptions and donations, the total of £2SO had been provided.
