WOOL SALE.
FIRST OF SEASON AT NAPIER. WELLINGTON PRICES MAINTAINED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.; NAPIER, Nov. 20. The first Hawke’s Bay wool sale for the current season opened this morning to a full bench of buyers, but the English representatives were very quiet. Wellington prices were maintained. but not eclipsed, and there were occasional instances of a slight decline. Bidding was consistent, but rarely vigorous, though it became brisk in spasms, when American or Continental concerns competed. France, Italy and U.S.A. did most of the buying, the Americans taking good crossbreds up 'to 18£d, halfbred to. 19Jd. Pieces, necks, and bellies were keenly sought for by Continental representatives. Prices ranged up to l'3d for pieces and necks and up to lOd for bellies. The first lambs wool brought 15d to 16d, crutchings 7)-d to 8d The offering for disposal was not large, 12,000 bales being submitted.
