The Damascus correspondent of The Times .says the situation in Syria is ■steadily growing worse, and unless something is speedily done a wave ot rebellion will sweep the whole country. The banditry lias assumed an organiccharacter and is directed by Druses, who are daily gaining new adherents. The correspondent doubts whether the forty thousand troops which France proposers to send will ihe sufficient- to cope with the situation.
