A proposal to use the telephone service for giving the public the results of sports figures other than racing is under consideration by the Poet and Telegraph Department. At a recent meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, a letter was received from the Department- stating that the proposal would require tliap the body concerned should arrange for the results to be communicated to the telephone exchange by a responsible person. It was agreed to co-operate with the Department, and to inquire whether it would be possible to extend the scheme to allow the results of meetings in outside centres to be communicated to the local exchange.
