A WOMAN GOVERNOR. JIM’S AMNESTY. NEW YORK, Oct. 27. “Ma,” Ferguson, first woman Governor- of the United States, is in danger of losing her position. An influential group of citizens of Austin, in Texas, which is under petticoat government, proposes to impeach Mrs. Miriam A. Ferguson. They intend to charge her with wasting the public funds. Her husband. Jim Ferguson, was impeached on a*charge of mishandling State funds in 1917, but resigned before the Senate could vote on the charge. In March. 1925, his character was cleared by an amnesty Bill passed by the State Legislature and signed by his wife, “Ma” Ferguson. She was elected Governor on August 23. 1924. winning against Felix Robertson, the Ku Klux Klau candidate.
