The collapse of the shipping strike in Westralia and Queensland has influenced the position in Sydney. Three ships sailed yesterday with full crews. There are also indications of the strike ending in South Australia, where the men are returning to work on the steamers Westmoreland and Balranald. DECLARED OFF. QUEENSLAND OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. Received Nov. 6, 11.15. a.m. BRISBANE, Nov. 6. It was officially announced by the strike committee that the striking British seamen would return to work today. The collapse of the strike followed upon the refusal of the watersiders to assist the seamen. The latter met and took a ballot which resulted in a majority in favour of resumption of work. The Rimutaka has sailed with a full crew. TERMS OF SETTLEMENT. i ACCEPTED AT FREMANTLE. SYDNEY, Nov. 5. Advice from; Perth; states that at a meeting of the members of the crew of the oversells vessels at Fremantle it was decided almost unanimously to accept the terms of settlement offered by the owners. _ • The crew of the oversea steamer Elsiston, which is at Sydney, have joined the strikers. ... The prediction in industrial circles is that the strike will end soon after the Federal elections, and that the ships held up will be manned and taken to England. The steamers Port Macquarie and Port Denison sailed today. ; A message from Brisbane says tne Queensland Trades and Labour Council carried a -motion repudiating the Premier (Mr. W. McCormack), considering that he was not a fit and proper person to continue in office in view of the anti-working class attitude adopted by him in the present shipping strike. The Management Committee of the Watersiders’ Federation decided' that there shall be no hold-up of cargoes-in-ward. by ■ watersiders, except in eases where engineers, in place of seamen, supply steam. A significant development in the shipping strike at Fremantle was that a pi'ot launch manned by Australian seamen put off to the Orsova and landed the pilot, who took her to an anchorage. Hitherto the pilot crow ha s refused such service in the case of heldup ships. The seamen have decided to take the Karoola to sea.' The. Orsova and Dorda sailed with skeleton crews. The Apolda sailed from *Bunbury with a full crew.
