NEW SEAMEN’S UNION.
PROPOSAL LIGHTLY REGARDED,
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRHIGT. Received Nov. 5, 10.13 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 4. Concerning the suggestion that Mr. Walsh proposes to come to Britain to establish another seamen’s union in alliance with the Australian Union, both Mr. Havelock Wilson’s union and the Amalgamated Marine Workers regard the proposal with indifference. They point out that their unions embrace eighty per cent, of the maritime workers of Britain, therefore there was obviously no room for another union.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
