MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING.
CONCLUSION OF SEASON. The Hawera Miniature Rifle Club concluded its 1925 season last evening at the range, when all ties for the various trophies were shot off. The season has been probably the most interesting to date, and has been marked by the closeness of the shooting by the various members. In six of the competitions ties were registered for either first or second places. During the year the club has visited Oeo and Waverley, fired a postal match against New Plymouth, and entertained the Oeo Club at a match bn the ’local range. In all the outside matches the local teams were successful.
The club champion far- the season was Mrs W. Hawkins, who also takes the ladies’ championship, whilst President H. Collier annexed the gentlemen ’ g championship. Scores in the various competitions were as follow:
Ladies’ championship—-Mrs Hawkins 393. 1; Mi’s Rae,. 383, 2. Gents’ championship.—H. Cbllier, 391, 1; P. Petersen, 388, 2. Champion teams. Excel ior (Mrs Hawkins, Miss Howard and P. Petersen), 869, 1; Rover s (Mrs Rae, Mrs Gtranfc and F. Rae), 867, 2. Other teams competing were: Wanderers 865, Deadbeats 860, Pirates 856, Sports 837, Ramanui 796.
President’s trophy.—Mrs Rae and riss Rae 295 each: (tied). After Miss Rae 295 each (tied). After Rae’s trophy.—Mrs Elgar 445, Miss shooting off three times, Miss Rae won by one point. * Rae, G. H. Tozer and A. Elgar 444 each, Miss Rae securing second place in the shoot off.
Catrran’s trophy.—Mrs Walker and Mrs Hawkins 50 tied with the possible for first place, Mrs Walker winning by one point (another possible) in tbe sfioot-off.
Mrs Hawkin’s trophy.—P. Petersen, Mr s Hawkins and Miss Preston tied with 148. The shoot-off resulted: P. Petersen 1, Mrs Hawkins 2. Patron’s trophy.—A. Elgar 297, Mrs Hawkins 295.
J. Petersen’s trophy.—A. Elgar 99 and Mr s Hawkins 99 tied for first place, Mr Elgar winning by one point in the shoot-off.
Mis Preston’s trophy.—Best aggregate in teams F. Rae 296. Mrs Smith’s trophy.—Centre hulls in championship: Mrs Rae 12. Mrs Walker’s trophy.—Mrs Copier and Mr G. H. Tozer tied with the possible, 50. After firing seven shots, Mrs Collie.r proved successful by two. points. It is the intention of the committee to hold a social evening at an early date, when the presentation of the prizes won during the year wil 1 , be made. Members are asked to watch the columns of this paper for notification of the date, and are specially requested to mil up in ful] force and bring along their friends.,,., .... .
