BUTTER TRADE
DULLNESS REIGNS.
SPOT SUPPLIES SMALLER. CHANGE EXPECTED SOON. GY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT Received Oct. 26, 10.35 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 20. Dulncss reigns in the butter market, business being almost negligible, but it is unlikely that this condition of affairs will continue for long. Holdeis. at any rate, show no alarm, and are not pressing sales, for with the strike still holding up shipments Australian and New Zealand supplies of spot are getting small and the general opinion is that soon there will not be enough oi the best butter for consumptive re quirements. Much, of course, depone s on whether the consumers will continue to pay the present high retail prices or will turn to margarine makers, of which some arc assiduously advertising their best brands as substitutes tor dear butter.—Ans.-N.Z.
