FUNDS FOR CAPTAIN WILKINS
WORK IN ADELAIDE,
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPVRIGHI Received Oct. 22, 12.50 p.m. ADELAIDE, Oct. 22. The Treasurer of the South Austra- >. lian branch of the Royal Geographical Society, referring to the cabled message from the explorer, Captain Wilkins, to the effect that he is awaiting funds, said that the Society agreed at the request of Captain Wilkins to act as treasurer for the expedition. Captain Wilkins appointed his own collector© and as the funds were collected they were cabled to Captain Wilkins. Has collector had been waiting for the seamen’s strike to end before commencing his work, but had now decided to begin operations this week. The .sum of £BSO had been cabled to Captain Wilkins in the past few days.
