BRISBANE, Oct. 22. The Premier, Mr. Gillies, and Mr. W. 11 uus tan, secretary of the Australian Workers’ Union, have been appointed lay members of the Board of Trade, with salaries of £2OOO yearly. Mr. W. McCormack succeeds Mr. Gillies as Premier. Mr. T. Dunstan, assistant Minister, is elected to full cabinet rank and Mr. Gladson has been appointed assistant Minister.

In the Assembly, the Opposition denounced the appointments, .stating that the Bill under which they were made was framed for the purpose of finding a last political refuge for those who had outlived their usefulness.
