LATE SPORTING.

.TRACK NOTES FROM TRENTHAM

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION ) ■WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. . •Training operations at Trenthain this morning were again conducted under favourable weather conditions. The inside of the trial grass track was avail- 1 able for fast work, but few trainers took advantage of it, and one or two gallops were done on the ,tan track, which, also provided very fair going. The jockeys R. Reed, J. Barry, R. J. Mackie, W. H. Jones, R. W. McTavish, D. Watts and E. A. Keesmg were present doing riding work. Star Ranger was first out, being allotted two rounds on the tan at strong three-quarter pace. *, Commendation cantered twice round on the grass, sprinting down ..the straight each time. Misgovern and Black Rock, on the grass, galloped seven furlongs in 1.40. Kilperon and Glen Innes, on the grass, were not hurried to run three furlongs in 44sec. Eonmark, on the grass, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.19. His stable mate (Orchid) did useful work. Tiega and Runnymede in company were given two rounds at a good half to three-quarter pace, both going more freely than yesterday. Te Kara was out doing easy pace work* He looks healthy and well, but did not hit out too freely. The southern two-year-old Real Glad sprinted half a mile on the tan in 53.2-5 sec. Real Glad is on the small side, but is a nice mover W. H. Dwyer arrived yesterday, and had Kiosk aiid Horomea out doing easy pacing. Kiosk, who is a half-brother by Tea Tray to Mireusonta, is a wellgrown youngster, who apparently has done plenty of work. R. Rayner had Motley, Deluge, The Thorn and Lysander on the course. He rode the two first-named at easy pace work himself, while R. W. McTavish, who is to ride The Thorn on Saturday, was up on the Absurd three-year-old. R. Reed cantered Lysander once round. He is a very handsome colt, but possibly may want a. race or two yet before being quite at his best. Reed is to ride him in the Wellesley Stakes. Dubious had the imported mare March Past for mate in a gallop over six furlongs, which took 1.215, Dubious being very slightly in front of his mate at the finish. Megalo, with a good pull in weight, after being two lengths to the ba4. the start, beat Benmure home fairly comfortably in a dash over half a mile, which took 49 l-ssec.

Fool’s Paradise, on the outside, but with a lighter weight, was going better than Royal Divorce at the. end of seven furlongs on the tan, which took 1.33,' the last half-mile being rim in 51 sec.

Pangolin, under a pull,. ran down from the three furlong post in 41sec. A large number of others were out doing easy 1 pace work.
