REFEREE MAULED.
RIOTOUS SCENES AT SCOTTISH MATCHES. LONDON, Aug. 24. Riotous scenes took place at two football matches near Glasgow. At Clydebank, thousands tried to obtain admission through, the boy’s gate. The few police present drew their batons and for fiftteen minutes were engaged in serious conflict. Other people rushed round another way and went into the park without payment, after scaling walls and ruining gardens. After the referee. Mr. Gray, had given a penalty, which won the match against Arthurlie at Barrhead for the Third Lanark, tlie crowd invaded the field and the referee was severely kicked and mauled.
