SHORT IN AUSTRALIA. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 15, 9.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 15. A threatened shortage of potatoes is causing prices to soar. They are selling at £2O per ton. Visible supplies of old stocks are low, and reports from various producing centres indicate that the new crops is light and backward, owing to the cold spring and want of rain. Indications are that they will not be available before the end of November. In the meantime there will he a marked scarcity of old stocks.
