MR CORRIGAN’S PATEA MEETING.
(To the Editor.) # Sir,—The report re the, above in last night’s, issue of the Star is, conspicuous only by its inaccuracies. The be-, haviour of the meeting all through Mr Corrigan’s address was good, but for a feAV remarks from his HaAvera associates. The correspondent asserts that Avhenever one of the four mentioned arose, pandemonium ensued. This requires no personal denial beyond the statement, that I askedJ no questions. The most persistent questioner Avas, I believe, a resident of -Patea. He, as well as. most others, AA-as drowned solely by HaAvera supporters, of the National Party. They had evidently journeyed to Patea, in order to make questioning impossible. One question asked, and on AA'hicli Nationalists and Reformers should demand an ans Aver, is as follows, “Would Mr Corrigan on a no-eonfi-dence motion, vete with Mr Holland?” Up to- the present this remains unanswered. Surely this Avas a reasonable and a relevant question? If this reporter is Mr Corrigan’s official correspondent. you AA’ould be well advised to exercise a stricter censorship on this individual’s pen. In conclusion, I Avish to. state that all rowdyism could have been kept AA’ithin bounds by the, chairman. In no Avay Avere Ave responsible for the disturbance.—l am, etc.. A. B. MUGGER,IDGE. Manutalii, October 15. [The phrasing of this letter has been slightly modified in parts; but the Avriter’s meaning stands.—Ed. Star.]
