VISIT OF U.S.A. ATHLETES. (BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 14. When the New Zealand Council abandoned the attempt to arrange a visit by American athletes the Wellington Centre took it up and devised a practicable scheme for inviting Scholz, the crack Olympic sprinter, and Baker, the mile champion of U.S.A. The sum of £SOO was required, and this has all been guaranteed'. The men are to arrive on January 4 and leave on March 16. The council was approachedjbo take the scheme over, and has agreed to do so.
