DEMENTED MOTHER’S DEED.
CHILDREN ATTACKED WITH AN AXE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Oct. 13. A tragedy occurred at Newcastle, when Mrs Cheltham, while in a state of dementia, attacked Her three children, of ages ranging from nine months lo seven years, with an axe and terribly injured; them all. They were taken to hospital in a serious condition. The police took charge of the mother. The two older children escaped and warned some, neighbours. One of the children has succumbed to its injuries.
