SYDNEY, Oct. 12. At the wool sale there was a strong deanland for fleece wools at last week's best rates, while mediums and best skirtings advanced by 21 per cent. After a spell of chilly weather summer arrived suddenly to-day. From 81 degrees at nine o’clock in the morning, the thermometer climbed to 93 degrees in the afternoon, accompanied by a hot wind of j almost gale force. The city was smothered in dust and smoke from numerous bush fires in the outer suburbs. Later in the d'ay the thermometer fell with a rush. A gale unroofed and damaged many houses in the suburbs. Several vessels in the harbour dragged their anchors, but small damage was done. The wind played a scurvy trick on. the competitors at the rifle meeting, wrecking a canteen.

In connection with the finding of the bodies of Mrs. Parr and Alfred Anderson in a dairy that was conducted by the former, further information shows that the husband of Mrs. Parr is employed at Tamiworth. Andenson is a married man with five children. The evidence of .their families showed that the two victim's had been keeping company for some yeans. They supposedly quarrelled and Anderson struck Mrs. Parr on the head with a bottle, shot her twice, then drank strychnine and shot himself.
