Badeley bene,T fit match' between Ponene (Wellington) and Ponsonbv (Auckland), the senior 3 champion teams in the respective cities. Ponsonby won by 20 points to 1 15. It is expected the sum £3OO will i be available for Badeley. 1 The final of the Pollard Cup competition was won by Grammar uld 1 Boys, who defeated Grafton- by 14 3 points to 11. ; TWO SHIELD MATCHES. f ■ Every year there are two matches in New Plymouth which come at the end > of the season and create quite a lot . of interest among members of the Star ' and Tukaipa clubs. These matches are > for the possession of the Dan O’Brien [ and the Carbine Shields. Hie former trophy is played for between Che senior teams and tlic latter between the junior. . The result on Saturday, after a good display of football, was a win for Star in both matches, ®o that they will hold both shields for the year. i In the senior match Star won bv 1 1 j points to 5. For Star tries were scored by Wolfe and Court, Jenkins and Bruce potted a goal each and Jenkifis i kicked a penalty goal, while for Tukapa Loveridge scored a try and added 1 the major points. In the' j unions Coltliart and Billing ■ scored tries and Morris kicked a- pens' a .lty goal, while O'Donida scored a try for Tukapa. ...... . ii . 1 Tt is 'Worth mention that it is itnir- ‘ teen years since Star last won the ' shield; and supporters of the club Were naturally -most jubilant. L During the matches three players, 1 two senior and one junior, were ordered off the field. .
