CARS AND CYCLES lAIPOLITED. Statistics showing the number of motor cars and cycles imported into the various provinces of New Zealand during last year and the countries in which they were manufactured, were furnished in a return received by the Eltham County Council on Saturday. The statistics, which were compiled from returns .supplied by . ertuin icgistering authorities, were as follow: America- 10,454 cars, 1838 cycles; United Kingdom, 1447 cars, 2230 cycles; Canada 7088 cars, no cycles; other countries, 389 cars, 42 cycles; total cars imported 19,378 cycles 4110. Of the total the vehicles were absorbed by the population of Ne.v Zealand as follow: Auckland- and Poverty Bay 6927 cars, 1458 cycles; Wellington 4283 cars, 937 cycles; Canterbury 2865 cars, 648 cycles; Hawke’s Bay 1586 cars, 274 cycles; Otago and Southland, 2456 cars, 369 cycles; Taranaki 718 rars, 272 cycles; Westland 203 cars! no cycles; Nelson and ATarlborongh 340 cars, 94 cycles.
