“THE TOREADOR.”
SEASON ENDS TO-NIGHT. The successful season of “The Toreador,” by the Uawera Amateur Operatic Society, will be brought to a close this evening, and all those who have not seen the production are advised to take this opportunity of doing so.
La>st evening the show was i gain repeated to a large audience, which was not slow in displaying the well merited appreciation the performers deserved.
All sections of the performers scored a very decided success, and a feature was the improvement noted in the chorus work. The uncertainty in time and rhythm, which has been noticeable? due largely to the members, rot watching the conductor, mainly disappeared and there w r as in this respect, a marked improvement- that was very gratifying to the musical conductor ai d producer. The performance last night again evoked the most favourable comment from visitors, of whom there were a large number present from many parts of the district and also a. few from abroad. All expressed themselves delighted with the work of the society. In connection with to-night’s performance the booking is heavy and a long queue is expected. The committee especially asks all ticket holders to be at the Opera House well before eight o’clock, so as to get all seated by the time of commencing.
