KIRTON NEVER ARRESTED.

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.! WELTEVREDEN, Sept. 30. liirton received: a letter from the Attorney-Genera] stating the reasons for the delay in Kiirton’s departure. The letter says that Kirton has never been arrested in connection with the Macfie muirder, but he could not be allowed to depart a few days after the murder, the police being obliged to consider all the probabilities in respect to every person who might in some way be connected with the crime. Kirton was asked by the Dutch authorities to stay a little longer, and most willingly complied. The letter, which is signed by the Attorney-General, concludes: “Kirton is now continuing his journey home with the fullest consent of the Dutch. authorities.”
