The special correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says a successful European wheat harvest, notably in Russia, Germany and Poland, -affected the market in a surprising degree. Number one Manitoba is quoted at 51s compared with 63*s a year ago. The latest figures indicate that the European "yield will be 248,000,000 quarters, which is an increase of 68,000,000 over last year. The world’s total yield is estimated* at 499,000,000 quarters, which is the largest since 1913. This, together with the carryover, means the season’s surplus will be 107,000,000 or 36,000,000 above the needs of importing countries. NEW YORK, Sep. 26.
Chicago wheat is bearish. The European neAvs and the record-breaking movement of the Canadian spring Avheat caused further depression here. Quotations: —September, 135 cents .per bushel (the season’s lowest); December, 136 1-S cents; May, 139 cents.
