HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

There was a good attendance at the of the General Committee of the Horticultural Society, held) last night, over which Mr B. C. Gibson presided. It was decided that a two days show be held on March 10 and 11, 1926, and the secretary was instructed to write to the show secretaries of other horticultural societies in South Taranaki informing them of the dates selected, so as there would be no clashing of dates. It was resolved that' 800 schedules be printed for the forthcoming show. Owing to the fact that some of the crockery had been broken through being lent for various functions, a resolution was passed that in future a charge of Is per dozen be made for the use of the crockery, and all breakages to be paid for. It was also decided that the society give every assistance to the Hawera Scottish Society for holding - a concert and dance in the Normanby Town Hall, the proceeds to assist the Scottish candidate at the forthcoming .carnival. The ladies’ committee kindly offered to arrange for refreshments! in connection with the function, and all other arrangements were left in the hands of the Entertainment Committee. It was resolved that Highland dancing and piping events be included in the programme of the next show, two medals being kindly donated by Mr A. E. Linn for competition in some of the The president suggested adding classes for purebred pigs, as there are quite a number of breeders in the district, and he thought the pigs would make an interesting exhibit, considering that so many farmers patronised the show. These remarks were endorsed by members of the committee, and it was left with Mr A. Crocker and the secretary to arrange classes for inclusion in the schedule.
