Then Mrs Mallory placed the United States on even terms with the Australians by defeating Mrs Harper, 7 o, g 6 in one of the, closest women s matches' ever played here. A feature of the game was the sensational driving of both plavers, who preferred to remain in the back court, engaging m frequent long rallies. lhe iormei American champion managed to gam a victory by her superior accuracy.
