BOY SCOUTS.

VISIT TO OPUNAKE. After a. delightful day in Opunake yesterday, rain commenced to fall in the early evening and to some extent spoiled the attendance at the exhibition and concert of the Ilawera Boy Scouts. However, quite a number of people braved the storm and they were treated to ai very fine entertainment. The object of the demonstration was to raise funds towards sending members of the Ilawera troop to the Jamboree in Dunedin, and also bring about, if possible, the formation of a troop at Opunake. The audience: was very favourably impressed with the programme submitted, and it is believed that some movement in the direction of forming an Opunake troop will be made in the near future'. The Scouts’ exhibitions of improvised stretcher, Morse signaling with flags and instrument, and stretcher drill, bamdaging and artificial respiration were, excellent and showed that, a great deal of sound instruction in all of these useful phases of Scout work had been given. Scout ;S. W. Horsburgh in humorous songs received a great reception. Songs were rendered by Misses E. Williamson, Yorke and Galloway; Misses Ylorke and Galloway sang a duet, which was much appreciated. A recitation was also given by Miss Maisie Instone.
