QUEEN CARNIVAL.

CAMPAIGN NOTES. The country candidate’s committee will conduct a shop day in town on Saturday next. A great deal of preparation is being made for this event, and large funds are. anticipated from the effort.

.The Sports committee is holding a euchre party on Thursday evening in the Savoy Tea Rooms. As the prizes are very attractive a large attendance is expected.

The Scottish candidate’s concert party will visit Auroa this evening. The party has engagements for Ohangai on Monday, Tawliiti the following Monday, and Pihama on Wednesday week.

The football match arranged for Sat. urday next, between Hawera. and Athletic seniors, is causing a great deal of interest. Both teams will be at full strength, and eac-h is confident of success. The object of the proceeds is a very worthy one, as half will go to assist the Hawera Technical High School team in its tour, and the other half will be devoted to the Sports candidate’s fund. .

At a meeting of the country candidate’s committee last evening a number of functions were arranged to take place at early dates. It, was decided to enter a tug-of-war team for the competition. Mr. Roy Guy was appointed joint secretary in conjunction ,v ith Mr. R. West.

A big shop day is. being held on Saturday in aid of the Sports candidate’s funds. Supporters are asked to contribute anything saleable to help swell the funds

On Friday night at- the Winter Show Buildings. tire Scottish Society i - holding a children’s ball on behalf of its candidate. This will he one of the important events of the season, and it wil he most interesting for adults to witness the children’s parades. After 10.30 p.m. the adults will take the floor. The children’s grand march commences at 7 p.m.. when the j lid gins: will commence. Mrs. Pacey and Miss Corrigan have consented to act in the capacity ot judges.
