Eighty convicts in a gaol on St. Cross Mountain, Southern Poland, where a number of Communists were serving ]ong sentences, broke into the guardroom, disarmed the guard ‘and seized their rifles and ammunition. They were, however, unable to escape, owing to the vigilance of the other guard. A detachment of police arrived and a desperate struggle followed. Six prisoners and two police were killed, and 20 prisoners and four police were wounded, before order was restored. — Reuter. •_
