STRIKING MINERS FIGHT FLAMES

A telephone message received, at Rjockhaimipton from the Mount Morgan station headquarters states that the mine is on lire. Miners have rallied from all pants of the town to the rescue. Tlhe miners who are on strike commando red motor ’lbuses and other vehicles, and rushed to assist at the lire. The situation is alarming, and in the absence of lights t}ie work of locating the seat of -the fire is very dangerous, the sulphur fuanes being almost unbearable.

Later the men, who rushed to the mine in large numbers, cheeked the outbreak. The fire caused .the industrial brauib'le to ibe forgotten for -the time being, and the situation has now quietened,. although the pickets are still vigilant. '
