ZIEGFELD DISAPPOINTED.
IN BEAUTY QUEST. LONDON, Aug. 21. The quest by Florenz Ziegfeld, tho well-known New York theatrical manager, for six “rose and gold” British girlsi to join his Follies company has proved disappointing, the only selection being an eighteen-year-old Birmingham blonde, Emid Lillian, daughter of a small shopkeeper. Enid called at the R.itz Hotel, uninvited, with her another. She has .had! no stage experience, and had never seen London before. Ziegfeld was impressed with he’* beautiful features, her fair hair, and her blue eye®, and she will sail with her mother for New York.
Ziegfeld gave a hearing to-day at a West End theatre to 300 applicants, including an Indian girl land a Russian pFffneess, but dismissed them all. He explained that this did not mean that there was a shortage of British beauty, but bo was .seeking a 1925 Marie Studholme, which was the rarest type.
