SPEECH BROADCASTED

UNSUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Receive Sept. 8, 1.20 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 7. , M. Bainleve had the Continent fpr an audience when his League of Nations speech at Geneva was broadcasted. The results were riot altogether favourable, though the words arid phrases were here and there distinguished quite clearly. The greater part, however, was unintelligible, owing to atmosyherics and the; voice being unsuitabe for broadcasting. Experts regard the experiment as valuable as revealing that the time is not remote when speeches of statesmen and thinkers could be communicated to the world simultaneously.—A. and N.Z. Assn.
