Over in Sydney on holiday with her mother is Miss Doreen Brown, honorary secretary of Christchurch Ladies’ Swimming Club, and a prominent figure in the ladies’ swimming world of the Dominion. “I am not here, looking for a> lady swimmer,” said Miss. Brown to a Sydney reporter. “I saw it stated that we are after one from Honolulu: hut many in New Zealand think we would do better if wo secured the services of an accomplished male coach. Miss Ena Stockley, 100 yards champion of tlio Dominion, possesses the most perfect stroke of any lady swimmer we have had. Miss Sliand has, I am told, taken up golf, and given up competitive swimming. Miss Piri Page, who is nearly eighteen now, holds the 220 and 440 titles. Swimming is going along nicely in all parts.”
