PATEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
A very prettv wedding was solemnised at St. George’s Church on Wed--nesday afternoon, the contracting paities being Miss Ivy Lai combe, daughter of Mr and Mrs C. A. Larcombe, of tins town, and Mr C. Montgomery, son of Mr and Mrs A. Montgomery, of Te Puke. Bay of Plenty. Mr Goertz was the officiating minister. The church was tastefully decorated by some of the friends of the bride. After the ceremony a number of- friends met at St. George’s Sunday schoolroom, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of, the usual toasts being honoured. The happy couple left by motor for Wanganui, en route to their home, amidst showers of confetti. At some periods during the year perhaps reasonable excuses can be found for cyclists riding their machines on the footpaths within the borough, but that period does not exist to-day, and there is not the. slightest- excuse for committing this breach of the by-laws. The roads here are in good order —in. many eases far better than the foot-paths—yc-t during a recent afternoon no less than nine young boys were to be seen riding bicycles on the footpaths through the centre of the town, one youth endeavouring to do a bit of circus riding. It is sincerely to be hoped that the local authority will give instructions to' someone, to take proceedings against those who are perpetually breaking the- by-laws in this respect.
