He made an .important statement refuting the Turkish Government's allegations as regards the violation of the so-called Brussels line on the Mosul frontier, and the naya.l demonstrations on the Aegean Sea. MOSUL- INCIDENT.
DECLARED CLOSED. BRITAIN AND THE BOUNDARY QUESTION. Received Sept. 4, 12.55 p.m. . GENEVA, Sept. 3. M. Briarid, presiding at the Council meeting of the'League of Nations, declared that the Mosul frontier incident was cldsed, after hearing an explanation of both sides. Air Amery then made a lengthy statement on'• the subject of Iraq, saying that Britain would continue co-opera-tion with" the Iraq Government, though Without fixing' a limit to the mandate after the expiration of the existing treaty. He emphasised that it was Britain’s wish for Iract to enter the League and said that Britain _ would accept the Commission’s suggestion for the appointment of a League observer to Iraq to watch the interests of the minorities’ condition. Turkey had accepted -.the appointed observer for the minorities. Britain desired a boundary which, would he practicable in the interests of the friendly relations of Iran and Turkey, which Britain was most anxious to see maintained. Mr Amery reiterated that Britain would accept the decision- of the council re-.’ garding the boundary, whatever it be. —Reuter.
