An official statement claims that notning has happened in Syria since tne rebel attack on Damascus was debated, the rebels retiring on Jabel. it adds that General Sarraii, in a despatch fiom Beirut this morning, denies the reports of French reverses. —Reuter. DRUSES’ CLEVER RUSE. SURPRISE REAR ATTACK. DAMASCUS, Aug. 25. The Druises drew the attention and concentrated fire from a French, column by driving camels carrying lanterns along an exposed mountain: track, enabling them to mate a surprise rear attack, which threw the French into panic. Four -train loads of wounded have arrived at Damascus, including General Soulet.
