RECOMENDATIONS OF CONFERENCE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received August 31, 10.40 a.m. GENEVA, Aug. 30. The Child Welfare Congress adopted a resolution recommending that university chairs be founded in elementary, secondary, special and medical child welfare, also that where they do not advise that special committees be constituted to give the mother and child legal, medical, moral and financial aid. A further resolution of the congress recommended that special assistance be given to women and chi'dren emigrants during sea travel by persons trained in hygiene and knowledge of emigrants’ language. —A. and N.Z. Assn. CASE OF DESERTEJ> CHILDREN. GENEVA, August 30. The Child Welfare Conference passed a resolution to the effect t/hat deserted children should have the same value as others, and that public authorities directly or indirectly watch over children under the care of foster parents. The system of country schools should be extended, and where children had to walk long distances, kitchens serving hot meals shoffd be established, either bv the State or at the parents’ expense. —A. and N.Z.
