MOUAT CASE.

ACCUSED’S SECOND TRIAL. A NEW POINT. •if I TKLKUKAPB —PRESS ASMOCIi ! *Ui% CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 25. The second trial of Frederick Mount on a charge of murdering his wife, Ellen Louise .Mount, at St. Martin’s on or about February 20, was continued before Mr Justice Reed to-day. '1 he evidence given was a repetition of that adduced at the first trial. The only new point of consequence brought out was with reference to the dentures found. This point was elicited during the course of the examination of Lucy Prosser, a neighbour of the Mouats. Mr A. T. Donnelly (representing the Crown): Did Mrs Mount have false teeth ?—Yes. How do you identify them?—l hey had three green inlays. You could see them every time she smiled. There was also green on the gum of the denture. His Honor: That is peculiar. Have any teeth with those markings been discovered ? Mr Donnelly : No; the teeth we have have a blue spot on them. A juryman: They may change colour through dampness of the mourn. His Honor: Yes. Perhaps it would he as well to get a dentist to give evidence.

Witness: I am positive it was green. There was ail inset of the same colour in the teeth and on the gum. His Honor: Might it not he the green of dirty teeth ? Witness: Oh, no. It was a light green, something the shade of light greenstone. Mr C. S. Thomas (representing the accused), producing the false teeth exhibited in court, asked if-either were like the set witness had seen Mrs Mount wearing. Witness: No,- nothing like them whatever.

There mav he another set then ? Yes. Certninlv neither of these two sets is like what Mrs Mount used to wear.

Prio>- to the court adjourning M r Donnelly said he had only two. more witnesses, and Mr Thomas said he would call no evidence. Probably counsel will address the court to-mor-row afternoon.
