The cleaner, Herbert Wilkinson, who was locked, in a refrigerating chamber in a butcher’s shop at Darlinghurst, was suffocated by the rush of liquid ammonia from a burst turncock. The ammonia saturated his clothes and vapourised, suffocating him before he had time to escape. This is the first fatality of its kind in Sydney. MELBOURNE, Aug. 24.
