Conditions were excel lent for the opening match of the tour, New South Wales v. WelHngtcm-Manawatu-.ri.orowhenua combined teaim. The playing area waisi good .and was drying fast when the curtain-raiser, Manawiatu v. Horowhenua juniors, wn>s commenced. There is every indication of a large .attendance.
