The only development in the Mairuwah dispute is a suggestion by ottieials of tne Holy man line that a board ot arbitration sliou.d ne appointed to settle the matter. If this is adopted it is possible that the trouble will be settled in a day or two. Meanwhile both sides are standing llrin in the contention that each is right.
The trouble arose over two of the firemen being discharged from the ship. When a call was made for men to till the vacancies no men responded. Union, officials contended that wages paid in lieu of notice were not switicient.
