INTERNATIONAL LAW.
A WASHINGTON CONFERENCE. WASHINGTON, Aug. 7. A definite move toward a world conference for the codification of international law, which, has long been urged ns the surest means of preserving international peace, is expected to grow from the meeting of the interparliamentary Union here in October. It is expe'eted that the union will early adopt a resolution urging President Coolidge to call such a conference. Twenty-three out of 35 countries have replied to invitations, 320 delegates accepting. These will include Sir Robert Home, Mr Arthur Henderson, Viscountess A fttoi;, M. Herriot (a former Prime Minister of France). Herr Lobe (president of the German Reichstag), and Herr Wirt (a former German Chanfell or). •Sweden’s former Minister of Finance (M. Adelsward) is president of the union.
