, STRANGE! STORY. WEST SYDNEY SEAT. SYDNEY, July 22. A. sensation in the West Sydney Labour selection ballet is likely. At last night’s meeting of the A.L.P. executive, owing to protests that had been lodged by Messrs. V. H. Lambert, M.H.R., and J. Beasley, the executive ordered that the whole matter be referred to the disputes committee.
Considerable surprise was occasioned when it was known that Alderman English had beaten the sitting member, and allegations of irregularities were made at last night’s meeting.^ The returning officer for West Sydney will be asked to hand in all ballot papers to Mr. W. Carey, general secretary of the A.L.P. From information received at tlio Trades Hall to-day, it is extremely doubtful whether these papers can, be produced! now.
