MR CORRIGAN AND THE JUBILEE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —As organiser of the jubilee social referred to in your* columns, by one signing himself “Irish Nationalist,” it lias, I am sorry to say, fallen to me to take notice of hisi remarks. To say that his letter, is an impertinence is perhaps a rather mild statement of the truth. Mr Corrigan was invited, as a matter of courtesy, to attend the social, as was . also the Mayor (Mr Pacey), who, however, was unfortunately unable to come owing to illness. As a* matter of courtesy, too, Mr Corrigan came and made a few kindly remarks, for which we thank him. Politics did not enter at all into the matter. Those present probably represented every shade of political opinion, so why such capital is being made of an ordinary proceeding only those of the mental calibre of “Irish Nationalist” (?) can guess. When your correspondent learns that he has merely a ■woman to face he will perhaps realise the saffelty 'of removing liis mask. —I am, etc., ANNIE W. QUIN.
