BOXING.

THROUGH WITH DEMPSEY. NEW YORK STATE ASSOCIATION. tJY CARLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. (Received Aug. 5, 11.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 4. The New York State Boxing Association announces that it is through with Dempsey and will ignore him in future. It expresses the hope that organisers of boxing bodies, in other States will co-operate in this ostracism. The chairman, Mr 'Farley, says: “Dempsey is not licensed in this State, so we cannot make him fight; accordingly we shall' ignore him in future. However, we have no authority to vacate the heavy-weight title, nor to name another champion.” The break followed Dempsey’s failure to appear personally, as promised, to make a definite statement as to his intentions. —Aus.-N.Z.
